Nike In Metaverse

Sportswear giant filed four requests with the US Patent and Trademark Office on October 27 for ‘Virtual Goods’ trademarks in shoes, apparel and and related services for retail stores and entertainment.

The patents that @nike applied for contains “downloadable virtual goods” (in Class 9), “retail store services featuring virtual goods” (Class 35), and “entertainment services, namely, providing on-line, non-downloadable virtual footwear, clothing, headwear, eyewear, bags, sports bags, backpacks, sports equipment, art, toys and accessories for use in virtual environments” (Class 41).

This move from Nike can be a strong sign about the brand’s strategy for entering #metaverse.
